Job Summary: Clinica El Ayudante opened its doors in 2013 (dental) and 2014 (general medicine) with the goal of sharing the love of Christ through meeting the medical needs of the surrounding communities. The clinic has grown in capacity and depth throughout the last 11 years, providing quality care in over 16,000 consultations each year. Besides our clinic, there is little other affordable or quality health care available for these 40+ communities in our 70 square mile zone. The General Medicine Provider works with our medical team consisting of 2 doctors and 2 nurses to provide care to patients and focus on the mission of the clinic: “To show the love of Jesus Christ who heals and saves by providing quality medical and dental care through education, prevention, treatment, and post-treatment.”

We are looking for a passionate, experienced doctor that can successfully contribute to the general medicine department, working both in and outside of the walls of the clinic and in collaboration with the Honduran personnel, while keeping the focus on the Spiritual impact we can make for the glory of God.

Qualifications:

Love & follow Jesus wholeheartedly, actively growing in relationship with Him.

Licensed medical profession in general medicine (Doctor, NP or PA).

Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with North Americans & Hondurans.

Minimum of advanced-low level of Spanish according to ACTFL standards.

Ability to lead with a collaborative attitude & approach.

Proficiency in computer skills.

Passion for discipleship as a natural outflow of your daily tasks and life.

Able to maintain the values, guidelines, and morals of El Ayudante at all times.

Value relationships – both in working with teams and in communities.

Organized, self-starter with a high standard of excellence in all they do.

Duties Include:

Provide primary care which includes diagnosing and treating illnesses, managing chronic conditions, and performing minor surgeries.

Train and mentor local healthcare workers to strengthen the community's long-term healthcare system.

Conduct health education sessions on topics like nutrition, sanitation, and disease prevention.

Supervise and champion medical volunteers in the clinic.

Support coordinating details of medical brigades and medical ministry done outside of the clinic in mobile settings.

Set the Spiritual tone for the clinic – emphasizing the value of relational ministry, of healthy co-worker relationships, and discipling the staff.

Outside of Clinic Responsibilities:

Rotate with other missionaries eating dinner with teams, taking teams to church & out to dinner. (1-2 evenings per team week).

Attend monthly Missionary staff meetings and monthly All-staff meetings.

Be a part of the overall ministry- participating in events and activities.

Rotate with other missionaries to host volunteers for dinners at your house when necessary.

Fill in where needed and as able with the mindset of being a team player to accomplish the goals of El Ayudante as a whole.

Education & Experience:

1. General Medicine or Family Medicine licensed physician, NP or PA.

2. Competent in computer skills and working with electronic medical records.

3. Experience in working with other culture groups not your own.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, volunteer position. Raising your own support is required.

Time Commitment:

1. Minimum two-year commitment, although longer is desired.

2. This is a full time position – although actual work hours can flex.
